... History

Having studied winemaking and vineyard management in Germany (Weinsburg and Geisenheim), Klaus arrived in Chile in 1965 as the oenologist for San Pedro. He married Katharina Hanke in 1971 and in 1974 the couple Schröder Hanke, with a wide knowledge of the micro-terroirs of the Central South area, acquired and planted 62 hectares of vineyards in the Lontué valley.

In the year 2000 they finished the construction of their own winery, Viña AltaCima. A new period of their life commenced during the vintage of 2001, it was the realisation of a dream, when the winery started to produce the Premium Reserve AltaCima 6330.
